Shane Newman is a principal partner of Beck Engineering (BEL) with more than 25 years of experience in industrial projects. He graduated from the University of Calgary in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Having started with BEL in 1994, Shane takes pride in growing with the company from three employees to a staff of more than 35 diverse professionals.

Shane has been involved in a wide variety of civil and structural engineering projects worldwide. Some projects include foundations for a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) plant near Langley, Kentucky, USA which had to accommodate a river flooding the site yearly; foundations and structures for brine plants in northeastern Russia using precast concrete piles; a sulphur pit near Long Lake, Alberta that had to protect the high plastic clay subgrade from shrinkage; concrete foundations in the Feni Gas Plant, Bangladesh using broken ancient brick as aggregate; heavy lift rigging studies for large turbines for wind farms near Pincher Creek, Alberta; analysis of temporary shoring structures in Calgary including Millennium Tower, Hyatt Hotel, and TransCanada Tower; myriad custom lift devices, structures, and procedures for use in industrial plants and shops; and foundations and structures for a bio-refinery near Hairy Hill, Alberta.
