Engineering for Unique Requirements

Your impossible problem isn’t new. What if you had a team who has already solved it many times?

Practical & Fit To Your Requirements

The best solutions come from diverse expertise and drawing from 45 years of listening, collaborating, learning, and sharing our knowledge. When developing the 'right' solution, our engineers seek to understand the problem and our clients' goals and requirements. From there, we identify solutions to similar projects in the past and select the best-fit solutions based on the current application. Our unique solutions consider not only the issue's technical elements but also timing, budget, resources, tools, availability, and constraints introduced by others.

From “Larger & Taller” To Retrofitting For New Use

Restoring Foundations While In-Place & In-Service

After consulting with other firms, this client was looking at significant downtime at their operation. They had been advised that the deteriorating concrete foundation needed to be completely demolished and rebuilt, which would involve the removal of the in-service process tower. Our experience and superior understanding of the problem allowed us to develop a restoration and repair strategy, which enabled the process tower to remain in-place and in-service while the foundation repairs were carried out. This resulted in significant savings for the client.

Tall Access Towers

Our client required a multilevel access structure that provided access around a Reactor Tower at numerous heights up to 110ft (33.5m) above grade. Our extensive experience with structural steel assemblies and understanding of modular steel construction allowed us to design a unique solution. We developed a structure that met the client's needs and could be fully fabricated in the fabricator's shop, shipped to site in a minimal number of shipments, and fully assembled on-site with no welding utilizing fully bolted connections.

Slope Stability & Water Storage Ponds

Our client needed to store 125,000m³ of produced water as part of their production expansion. Our team designed the ponds, ensuring berm stability and incorporating appropriate leak detection. In addition, we provided on-site civil inspection, which helped address construction challenges in real-time.

Carbon Capture Retrofitting

Retrofitting an existing facility is rarely easy. For example, our client had a pipe rack originally designed to be 13' tall. It was expanded to 30' tall in a previous phase. Our task was expanding the pipe rack to be 44' tall for the carbon capture system—this required extensive analysis of the existing structure and connections. We reinforced the structure to support the new loads and helped a client pioneer a carbon capture process.
